5 Twitter Apps Worth Checking Out

Posted on 18 March 2008 by admin

A Listropolis Original (yeah, we write lists too)

I’ll admit, I’m addicted to Twitter. It wasn’t love at first site (or second, or third for that matter), but after trying out a few different Twitter apps, I was hooked. I’ve listed 5 of the best Twitter apps I’ve used, but hope this post leads to other twitter apps being listed in the comments.

  1. TwitterFox – I’m currently using this app, and think it’s hands-down the best Twitter client available. It’s a Firefox extension that sits in your status bar, and is perfect if you have multiple twitter accounts. So far, the only downside I’ve seen is that it feels a little slow at updating, with the fastest refresh option being every 3 minutes. For me, TwitterFox is as close to perfect as I’ve seen.

  2. Twitterrific – This has been my go-to client in between all the other apps I’ve used. I always seem to come back to this app for its good looks, and simplicity. Sponsored links have been added recently, but they don’t take away from the overall experience. Twitterrific is from Iconfactory, and is Mac only.

  3. Tweetr - This is a nice little Adobe Air app that has a clean, simple interface, and it’s fun to use. I would probably still be using Tweetr, but Adobe Air doesn’t seem to play nicely with my Mac ATM. My favorite feature about Tweetr is the ability to transfer files using the built in urltea.

  4. Twitbin - For Firefox and Flock users. It sits in your sidebar and allows you to read/post tweets. I’m running low on screen real estate, so having it in the sidebar was a deal breaker – forcing me to use the already mentioned twitterfox.

  5. Pockettweets - This is a twitter app for the iPhone. You can view the latest tweets from your friends, update your status, or see what’s happening in the public timeline. — all via EDGE or WiFi. It has quick load times, and navigating the site is cake. To use pockettweets, just visit the above link with your iPhone.

This obviously isn’t a complete list, but these are my favorite apps that I’ve tried so far. If you have a favorite Twitter app, post a link in the comments.
