This is not the appropriate place for this post, but I have no way of posting it to my other blog at the moment, plus, I want this to be noticed, and this site has a much larger readership, so I apologize in advance.
I received 2 emails today from a very good friend. One email said, “Dogs Shot in Orlando, Help me Share.” Normally I’d delete something like this, but she’s not the type to spam me. The body of the email asked if I had seen the story about the dogs shot in Orlando, and it had a link to a video. She said she was the person that broke this to the local news agencies, and wanted me to help spread the word. I called her to see if this was just a forwarded email, or if she was involved. When she answered the phone, she was in tears. Here’s the story I’ve been told, and witnessed on the news.
A landowner noticed two large, white dogs on his property, near his cattle. He told the media he thought they were wolves (we aren’t known for our wolves here in Florida). He walked up to the dogs, and fired shots at both dogs. The dog’s owner ran over and covered one of the dogs, begging the shooter to stop firing, and the shooter turned and fired another shot into the other dog. This is all in the video below. As far as I know, the shooter has not been charged with animal cruelty, and the dog owner is being charged for endangering the shooter’s livestock. Again, this is the info I have been told, and witnessed on the news. I do not know these facts to be true.

UPDATE – The person that did the shooting was actually NOT the landowner. He was given permission to protect the herd FROM the landowner, according to the local news.

I’m a landowner, so I understand not wanting dogs on your property. It’s common to fire a gun to scare dogs or other animals off. If the dog had attacked the cattle, I would be more understanding of the dog being shot (not saying I would agree with it), and I guess if you shot the dog, you’d want to make sure the dog was dead so it would not suffer.
The local media is only showing the first few seconds of this clip, making it appear the dog’s owner is not in the vicinity. They seem to be siding with the landowner. After watching this video, I’m disgusted, and want to help bring the entire video into focus.
Here’s the video. Please understand – it is VERY disturbing. It has not been edited, and the language is not safe for work.
I’d love to know your thoughts on this. Is this animal cruelty or was it the landowner’s right to shoot the dogs?I don’t really know how to close this. I don’t know what to ask for other than to help share this. Maybe the full video will help the authorities determine the outcome. Thanks for reading, and again, I apologize for placing this post on this blog. I hope you all understand.
